Technical Characteristics

MARMORINO NATURALE by OIKOS is a decorative, vapour permeable, coloured lime putty coating for interior and exterior. The product allows achieving easily and quickly to beautiful decorative effects known as “marmorino”. The thickess of MARMORINO NATURALE by OIKOS allows to decorate and to hide small imperfections of the wall at once, thus saving on expensive screedings. The product creates a stable link with the surface, preserving the vapour permeability of the whole wall structure.

The product also impedes the development of moulds and bacterial colonies. MARMORINO NATURALE can be either matt or gloss, in this second case when coated and polished with PURE LIME FINISH by OIKOS. MARMORINO NATURALE by OIKOS has a low odour level, is non inflammable and is friendly to both humans and the environment.

Decoration of interior and exterior walls and surfaces.

Surface Preparation

The surface must be dry and mature, new plasters should have been left maturing at least 30 days to allow a complete carbonation. Clean the surfaces and remove detaching and flaking parts. In case of refurbishment, water leaks and humid areas shall not be present. On flaking surfaces it is advisable to apply first SEALER FOR LIME CYCLES by OIKOS. On new walls or on well-painted walls it is advisable to apply first PRIMER FOR LIME CYCLES by OIKOS. Apply two coats of NATURAL MARMORINO by stainless steel trowel by Oikos, waiting 7-8 hours between coats. Screed evenly the whole surface. The gloss “marmorino” effect is obtained by applying PURE LIME FINISH for MARMORINO by OIKOS. The product is applied in a thin layer immediately polished by stainless steel trowel. When applied in exterior, over PURE LIME FINISH for MARMORINO by OIKOS it is advisable to apply PROTECTIVE WAX by OIKOS. The wax will make the surface water repellent and more resistant to exterior conditions. The application shall be conducted 7 days after application of the finish.

Application Method

Apply two coats of the product by stainless steel trowel by Oikos, waiting 7-8 hours between coats. Screed evenly the whole surface Important: protect the surface from the rain at least during the first 24-48 hours from the application.

Finishing / Protective

The gloss “marmorino” effect is obtained by applying PURE LIME FINISH for MARMORINO by OIKOS. The product is applied in a thin layer immediately polished by stainless steel trowel. When applied in exterior, over PURE LIME FINISH for MARMORINO by OIKOS it is advisable to apply PROTECTIVE WAX by OIKOS. The wax will make the surface water repellent and more resistant to exterior conditions. The application shall be conducted 7 days after application of the finish.

Technical Characteristics: The Product

Composition:Lime putty, selected marble granules, fillers, titanium dioxide, inorganic pigments based on iron oxydes and coloured earth.

Specific weight: 1.5 kg/l +/- 3%

pH: 12.5-13.5

Storage temperature: +2°C to +36°C. Keep from freezing

Fire reaction: negative if applied on to a non flammable surface, water based material with a dry thickness of less than 0.600 mm

Water vapour permeability (SD): 0.24 m (max allowed 2 m, DIN 52 615) for the cycle NATURAL MARMORINO, PURE LIME FINISH for MARMORINO.

Toxicological Data: The product is free of heavy metals such as lead or chrome. It does not contain toxic solvents, aromatics or chlorides. There is no risk of any dangerous polymerisation. The product is considered to be a non dangerous substance if used in the technically correct manner. Normal cautionary measures for the handling of water based paints are advised. No special arrangements are required for the storage, movement and transportation of the product; the containers, residue, eventual spilt material should be cleaned up using absorbent inert material such as sand, soil etc. etc. and then disposed of in accordance with the regional and national regulations in force at that time.
