Technical Characteristics

TRAVERTINO ROMANO FINITURA by OIKOS is a semitransparent paint for interiors and exteriors that has been created to protect the decoration of TRAVERTINO ROMANO. It has an extremely high yield and allows the applicator to highlight the shades and tones of the veins of natural stone. TRAVERTINO ROMANO FINITURA gives the surface water repellence and washability whilst at the same time maintaining a high level of vapour permeability protecting the surface from the weather and preventing the formation of mould and algae. The product can be coloured using the special TONER to obtain all the colours of the colour chart. It has a low odour level, is non inflammable and is friendly to both humans and the environment.

Decoration of interior and exterior walls and surfaces.

Surface Preparation

The surface should be thoroughly dry. Apply a first coat of ready to use FINITURA on TRAVERTINO ROMANO by OIKOS, wait four hours until dry and then proceed to apply a second coat of FINITURA diluted 50% in the chosen colour. Remove any excess product using a sponge

Application Method

Wait until TRAVERTINO ROMANO by OIKOS is completely dry. TRAVERTINO ROMANO naturale To protect and maintain the natural effect of TRAVERTINO ROMANO, apply by brush, a coat of undiluted, uncoloured TRAVERTINO ROMANO FINITURA. TRAVERTINO with a colour finish Apply by brush a coat of undiluted and uncoloured TRAVERTINO ROMANO FINITURA, paying attention to only spread the product on the smooth parts of the surface and not inside the dimpled areas that recreate the veins of natural stone.

Wait until the first coat of the finitura is dry and then proceed to apply by brush, a second coat of TRAVERTINO ROMANO FINITURA in the chosen colour, diluting the product first with 50% water. Remove excess product using a sponge so as to achieve the light dark effect caused by the different levels of absorption of the surface between the smooth areas and the dimpled ones.

Finishing / Protective

To obtain the desired shade of the colour chart, mix 100 ml of TONER with 1lt of TRAVERTINO ROMANO FINITURA and mix thoroughly.

Drying Time: Touch dry 1 ÷ 2 h (temperature = 20°C with relative humidity at 75%)

Drying time Until Washable 30 days (temperature = 20°C with relative humidity at 75%)

Drying Time Fully Cured: 6 ÷ 8 h (temperature = 20°C with relative humidity at 75%)

Cleaning: Water

Warning: Protect the surface from the rain for the first 48÷ 72 hours after application.

Technical Characteristics: The Product

Composition: Binders in water dispersion, high coverage fillers, titanium dioxide based pigments, organic and inorganic pigments, preservatives and additive to facilitate application and formation of the surface film.

Specific weight: 1,2 kg/l +/- 3% pH: 8.5 ÷ 10

Viscosity: 3000 - 5000 CPS Brookfield (RVT 20 revs/min. a 25°C)

Storage temperature: +2°C ÷ +36°C. Keep from freezing

Reaction to fire: negative if the product is applied on to a non inflammable base; water based material with a dry thickness of less than 0,600 mm

Toxicological Data: The product is free of heavy metals such as lead or chrome. It does not contain toxic solvents, aromatics or chlorides. There is no risk of any dangerous polymerisation. The product is considered to be a non dangerous substance if used in the technically correct manner. Normal cautionary measures for the handling of water based paints are advised. No special arrangements are required for the storage, movement and transportation of the product; the containers, residue, eventual spilt material should be cleaned up using absorbent inert material such as sand, soil etc. etc. and then disposed of in accordance with the regional and national regulations in force at that time.
