Technical Characteristics

LIME PAINT WASH by OIKOS is a mineral water based paint, semitransparent, formulated with lime putty and water repellent additives, studied to achieve a paint wash effect decoration on top of interior and exterior lime products.

LIME PAINT WASH by OIKOS confers on the surfaces a soft and warm effect, creating tones of colour typical of the lime products of the past. The product creates a stable link with the surface, preserving the vapour permeability of the whole wall structure. Its alkalinity avoids the development of moulds and bacterial colonies. LIME PAINT WASH by OIKOS is odourless, not toxic, not flammable, and environmentally friendly.

Surface Preparation

The surface must be clean, dry and not too warm. The application shall be conducted on lime products as LIME PAINT ADIGE, VERONA and TRADITIONAL PLASTER by OIKOS.

Application Method

The product is ready to use. Wash effect on LIME PAINT VERONA, ADIGE by OIKOS: with a large brush apply randomly WASHED LIME FINISH by OIKOS: subsequently, before drying, work on it with syntetic sponge by Oikos with the rough side first, finishing the decoration with the smooth side that will make the effect more uniform. Wash effect on TRADITIONAL PLASTER by OIKOS: apply WASHED LIME FINISH by OIKOS with a large brush randomly: subsequently, before drying, work on it with a soft sponge trowel. Protect the surface from the rain during the first 24-48 hours from the application.

Dilution: Ready to use, if required diluted maximum 5% with drinkable water

Yield: 5 – 6 m2/l according to the desired effect

Application tools: Brush, synthetic sponge, soft sponge trowel Base coat: LIME PAINT ADIGE, VERONA and TRADITIONAL PLASTER by OIKOS

Application temperature: +5°C ÷ +36°C (when relative humidity not over 80%)

Drying time: tack free 1.3 h (at 20°C and relative humidity 75%)

Drying time: fully cured 24 h (at 20°C and relative humidity 75%)

Tools cleaning: Water

Important: Protect the surface from the rain during the first 24-48 hours from the application.

Composition: Lime putty, water repellent additives, fillers, titanium dioxide, inorganic pigments based on iron oxyde and coloured earth

Specific weight: 1.15 kg/l +/- 3%

pH: 12.5-13.5

Storage temperature: +2°C ÷ +36°C. Keep from freezing

Fire reaction: Negative when applied onto not flammable surfaces. It is a waterbased product with dry thickness less than 0.60 mm Water vapour permeability (Sd): 0.29 m (max allowed 2 m, DIN 52 615) on cycle LIME PAINT ADIGE and WASHED LIME FINISH

Packaging: 1 – 4 –14 Lt

Toxicological Data: The product is free of any harmful substances, pigments or other components containing heavy metals such as lead or chrome. Further to this, the product contains no toxic solvents, aromatics or chlorides. There is no risk of any dangerous polymerisation. The product is non combustible and is held to be a non-toxic substance if used in the technically correct manner. Read carefully the safety data sheet: the product is labeled Xi irritant, R41. No special arrangements are required for the storage, movement and transportation of the product, any spillage should be cleaned up using absorbent inert material such as sand, soil etc. etc. and then disposed of as any normal waste product according to national and regional current regulations.
